Story Summary
Amber starts a new job working with a bail bondsman locally. She doesn’t know anything about the business, but meeting her boss Frank seals the deal. He is devastatingly handsome, and Amber can’t help but wonder what-if. His temperament is a bit grumpy, but Amber is sure that she will be able to change his attitude. She likes to think that he is attracted to her too, imagining his brief smile held something more. Amber wondered what it would be like to be with a man like him.
Frank is a single father, and his son Ethan quickly becomes a big part of Amber’s life. Her first day on the job, Amber is sent to pick him up from school and as punishment for being suspended, Amber works alongside the ten-year-old for her first week of employment. When Frank can’t find a proper nanny, Amber volunteers to help with Ethan. Frank has a big bounty that he must go find and Ethan stays with her for a while. They are ambushed and Ethan is taken while in Amber’s care.
Her boss’ job made him a considerable number of enemies, and Frank was in a race to find his son. When he did, they all had to go into protection and hide out together while the kidnapper was still at large. The police finally found him, and Frank takes matters into his own hands, getting himself on the wrong side of the law.
Ethan’s junkie mom gets into the mix and picks Ethan up at school, taking him off on her own. Amber has to once again tell Frank that she had lost his son. Frank has to scramble once more to find Ethan and this time Frank can only blame himself. Through it all, the bond between them gets stronger. When Ethan is saved, it is Amber that he asks for, which is telling to Frank. He asks her to marry him and even through another stint in jail and months apart, Amber and Frank finally can come together in the end. They have a proper wedding after it’s all said and done and a year later, a child is finally on the way.
