Story Summary
Melinda is shocked when two Texas Rangers come to arrest her, one being an old friend that she knew in High School years before. Now, she is an esteemed professor at Texas A&M, and she can’t believe that they are there to take her to jail. She’s never been in trouble in her life and Melinda didn’t do any of the horrible things she was being accused of. Someone sent a computer virus from her office and did a lot of damage. Melinda was being framed.
Devon helps her get out on bond, though she is forced to stay with him as surety. Melinda and Devon get to know each other again and they both start to have feelings for the other. Devon works hard to find out who framed Melinda, though the answer doesn’t come as easily as he would like it to. First, he thinks that the culprit was an old student that was in love with Melinda, and she didn’t reciprocate the feelings, then he homes in on a co-worker that was jealous of her. It turns out to be the student’s mother and she runs Melinda off the road.
He arrests Connie for attempted murder and the two can finally work on what matters most, the attraction between the two of them. Devon tells her how he feels about her and the two start officially dating.
A year later, Devon proposes on their anniversary and Melinda says yes! The two plan their wedding and their new life together, all brought together by a huge misunderstanding.
Characters
Melinda: Is a professor that holds a doctorate and works for Texas A and M as a professor in their computer science department. She is in her early thirties with short blond hair, blue eyes and a tan because she can’t stay out of the sun. Her aspirations are to make an app that brings people together, as well as teaching the next generation of movers and shakers in technology.
Devon: Is a Texas Ranger that specializes in digital forensics. He is around 5 foot 10, with a shaved head and emerald eyes that dance. His cheek holds a dimple that women find irresistible. Devon could easily be a lady’s man but finds it all so tiresome. Somewhere along the lines, helping an old friend becomes something more and Devon has feelings that he’s never had before.
